Aussie Secure Close Win Over Sri Lanka

At the WACA on the 10th of Febuary Australia lined up for the third game of the popular Tri Series against India and Sri Lanka. Australia were firm favourites coming off a win while Sri Lanka coming off a loss. Sri Lanka sent out an early warning having Australia 3/61 at the tenth over. But Australia later consolidated with Clarke putting in a fifty and a strong tail helped Australia making a competitive total at 231.

An early wicket from Starc helped Australia remain confident this was followed by a mix up that sent the world #1 batsmen, Kumar Sangararra into the pavillion. Dishlan left soon after resulting in the visitors losing 3 wickets for 19 runs. Doherty bowled well to help Australia grab victory despite Mathews making an impressive 64 including contributing to a 46 run 10th wicket partnership with Prasad that left the visitors 5 runs short with 1 ball to go.

Official Man of the Match was Michael Clarke although I thought Angelo Mathews was a worthy Man of the Match because his good work with the bat and ball nearly brought Sri Lanka an unexpected victory.

This result makes Australia the likely winner of the Tri Series.

From your 2 posts already I think you must want to be a sport's reporter.

I'll put a link on our blog to yours.

  2. Patrick I agree Australia are looking good to win the preliminary stage of the Tri Series, but the finals can always be different.
