Olympic Update: Day 13
OMG don't you get so tired of the ads in the Olympics but anyway your here to hear about the sport. Unfortunately one of Australia's gold medal chances in sailing was unavailable due to strong winds. However in the 200m Usain Bolt claimed the first 'double double' (winning the 100m and the 200m two Olympics in a row.) Yohan Blake came second and Warren Weir came third making Jamaica come 1st, 2nd and 3rd. Australia didn't place in the women's swimming marathon. The Opals played against the US for the semi-finals but unfortunately they lost in a close match. Also in Men's hockey we lost the semi against Germany. The first team sport finished was women's water polo and Australia got a bronze medal. Brittany Broben got a silver medal for Australia in Women's 10m platform.

Oh Usain, we look forward to you visiting us here in Australia, especially if you bring your humour with you.
ReplyDeletePerhaps it is fitting if sailing is taking over from swimming as one of our strongest sports, as if you were trying to get somewhere from Australia, I would back you more sailing than swimming!
How good is Usain Bolt!!! Imagine him as a fast bowler - scary stuff. Love the blog Patrick - and how good was Brittany - only 16 and a silver medal - I wish the media would tell us a bit more about her - what a dark horse.
